Get a Better Life PDF Print E-mail

Get a Better life is a  three-year funded research project by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) being carried out by Durham University in partnership with the Evening Gazette and Middlesbrough PCT.

The project is aims to engage adults living in the Tees Valley area to make two small changes to diet (increasing fruit and vegetable consumption or decreasing fat intake) and increasing physical activity levels for 12 months that could be of benefit to health in the future. The changes that the research team are looking at are all person specific, whether the participant decides to get off the bus one stop early to running a marathon, it's up to the person what they choose to do.

Diet and physical activity data will be collected at the beginning of campaign, and at six and twelve months using the novel online computer program: the Synchronised Nutrition and Activity Program for Adults (SNAPA).

Participants have been able to sign up to the campaign via the website or with the help of a 'Lifestyle Helper'.

Both forms recieve a FREE goody bag and will be entered into the Grand Prize Draw when SNAPA has been completed at registration, 6 months and 12 months.
